Claims of what? Claims that you can promote the employer's goals. What is the employer's goal? To make money! So, you FIRST figure out what it is the company does, and how that translates to their bottom line. THEN you apply for the job. If you can't identify how a company makes money, then you'll flunk the interview. Then, during the interview, if the company is worth working for, they will give you "situational" questions. They will present you with something that happens, every day, in that job you're applying to, and will ask "how would you handle this." Say you're applying to a cashier position at Best Buy. "A customer comes in and they're steaming mad. They're furious. They come up to you and DEMAND to speak to someone, anyone, who actually CARES about customers. What do you do?" OK, your turn. Wrong answer: "I have enough self-respect that I don't deserve to be treated like that." Right answer: "I say something that lets them know that I understand they have a right to be upset, like "It doesn't feel good when a company doesn't seem to care, does it?" then I'll ask what their issue is. I'll direct them to the appropriate department, or handle it myself, it it's my job to do so." I hire people. I am STUNNED at how many of you think that your job is to "obey the rules". No, it's not.
